The Episcopal Church

welsign.gifFaith and Practice (cont'd)

Teaching the sacramental principle that all physical matter is the instrument of the spirit, the church believes that spiritual healing is a natural part of its ministry.

Our central faith is in the everliving Christ, the conqueror of sin and death, the guarantor of life eternal.

But this sure and certain hope is no escape from the problems of this world. The church condemns all politics and economics which oppress people and rob them of freedom. The church stands for a redeemed social order where none shall make any afraid; and for justice and peace among classes, races, and nations, since in Christ all people are children of God, and therefore brothers and sisters.

Our Family

In Episcopal parishes are found poor and rich, cultivated scholars and political leaders, plain people of limited education, city people, business people, employers and employees, college students, and country people. There are communicants of foreign birth or parentage representing many peoples.

Those who most love the Episcopal Church and most deeply believe in it are conscious of their own shortcomings and their neglect of obligations. Only the utmost devotion of every member in worship and service to our Lord, continually strengthened by his gift of new life in the sacraments, can reveal the full meaning and power of the church.

The church speaks with assurance to the-world, knowing that the only way to save the world is to win the world for Christ: to offer wisdom to the ignorant, help to the needy, healing to the suffering, hope to the oppressed.

The church invites you to consider, perhaps lor the first time, the importance of God in your life and the renewed influence of Christianity in our time. In a time of crisis, it is in the church that the deepest problems receive their best analysis, and the spirit of humanity finds strength and joy.
