St. John's Episcopal Church's Youth Group activities promote our values and help build lifelong friendships. Developing and promoting youth activities is an important part of our church. The Youth Group was re-instated in 2012. So far the Youth Group has been very active. Here are some of the activities the group has already participated in: Mother's Day Pre-Breakfast, Black History Month Readings, Bowling with The Bishop, Valentine's Day Candy & Cake Sale, Home Economics, Fashion Show, Halloween Party, Game Nights, Spring Gardening. Below are some pictorials of the youth activities at St. John's Episcopal that assist in their growth. St. John's Youth Group kicked off Black History Month Celebration on Sunday, February 9th. Special readings were held each Sunday during the month of February. In closing out the month long celebration the leaders of the Youth Group awarded the participants with certificates of appreciation on Sunday, 2/23. Thanks to the Youth Group leaders, Cheryl Boyce and Roxann Samuel for organizing this month long celebration.

St. John's Youth Group kicked off the Kwanzaa celebrations on December 28, 2013. Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration held in the United States and also celebrated in the Western African Diaspora in other nations of the Americas. The celebration honors African heritage in African-American culture, and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving. Kwanzaa has seven core principles (Nguzo Saba): Unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. It was created by Maulana Karenga, and was first celebrated in 1966-67. Source: Wikipedia

St. John's Youth Group participated in the Mama Luke's Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in New Jersey on Sunday, October 21. Mama Luke's 2012 "Walk the Walk" on Sunday, October 21st for the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" Walk in Newark, New Jersey ranked Team Mama Luke the #3 team out of 639 teams. THANK YOU to everyone that helped make this happen. ~Team Mama Luke. Mama Luke is Hip-Hop's fight against breast cancer in memory of Gay Frances Lucas. St. John's Episcopal Church Youth Group held our Rock 'N' Roll Fashion Show on Saturday, June 30th from 3PM - 7PM. Thanks to all the young models who took part in this special event. Special thanks to everyone who supported our event. The Youth Group would also like to extend a special thanks to our group leaders, Cheryl Boyce and Roxanne Samuel for their never ending effort to keep our young members involved and participating in Church events. Pre-Mother's Day Breakfast

The St. John's Youth Group opened their "Youth Group Cafe" on Saturday, May 12th in celebration of Mother's Day. The Youth Group held a pre-mother's day Breakfast for all mother's. The menu had various choices for all in attendance, such as, pancakes, eggs, sausages, bacon, tuna sandwich, chicken and waffles, home fries, coffee etc. Thanks to the members of the Youth Group who hosted and waited on tables. Special thanks to the chefs who prepared the food; Cheryl Boyce, Roxanne Samuels, Jaynelle Mendoza etc. The Pre-mother's Day raffle was held on Mother's Day after service. St. John's Youth Group, led by Cheryl Boyce and Roxann Samuel participated in yet another fun filled day of activities and learning experience. The Youth Group enjoyed an evening of fun bowling with The Rt. Rev. Lawrence C. Provenzano, Bishop of Long Island. The Youth Group has been staying very active this year by participating in several events; Valentine's Day Candy Sales Event, Home Economics, Movie Nights and participating in Black History Month. St. John's Youth Group kicked off Black History Month celebrations with weekly Black History presentations that will focus on biographies of famous black men and women. This will be held each Sunday until the end of February. Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. St. John's Episcopal Church's Youth Group activities promote our values and help build lifelong friendships. Developing and promoting youth activities is an important part of our Church.
